What is Out of The Box Speech?

Out of The Box Speech is a speech therapy practice that takes a creative approach to helping children learn language and social skills.  We carefully curate experiences in a success oriented environment. We build skills through sensory based exploration, literacy and play.  

What services do you offer?

We offer both group and individual services.  
Our individual services are provided within the home, preschool/daycare, or in a predetermined place in the community.  Services are typically provided once or twice a week and are either 30, 45 or 60 minutes in duration.  

We also provide evaluations, parent training seminars and behavior support consultations by request.

Currently, we provide group therapy for preschool aged children.  Group sessions are run on Monday afternoons in Hoboken. These sessions focus on enhancing social skills, language skills and school readiness in a language rich environment. 

Tell me more about the preschool group.

We call our preschoolers the Speech Bubbles.  Every Monday afternoon, we meet for a themed party where we target specific language and social skills. We carefully choose the skills to be targeted during the party based on the theme.  

For example, one week the party theme may be Pizza Party. Our skill of the week would be sharing. Although each party will look different, Speech bubbles may practice sharing during the Pizza Party by making play doh pizzas and sharing with friends using the appropriate language and vocabulary. The fun and learning don’t stop there! Speech bubbles may read an interactive, thematically related book, bake a pretend pizza during structured play time or get their hands a bit dirty making a pizza craft. Every activity within the session will relate back to the theme of the party to reinforce skills and promote carryover.

Parents will receive a summary of the social and language skills of the week, as well as vocabulary and additional practice activities, at the end of each party. 

How do I sign my child up?

If you are interested in signing your child up for either group or individual sessions you can email info@outoftheboxspeech.com or call Ashley (201-658-5551) or Kristen (845-323-0234) directly.  We will set up a consultation to meet you and your child. Consultations typically run for 20-25 minutes. We use that time to get to know your child’s interests as well as their areas of need. Consultations cost $100. 

Will insurance cover my child’s individual or group sessions with Out of the Box Speech?

Out of the Box Speech is currently out of network with any insurance companies. We accept payment directly from families in full.  If requested, we will provide invoices at the end of each 6-week semester with the appropriate treatment and diagnosis codes for insurance purposes.  Families are responsible for contacting their insurance company to determine if they are eligible for reimbursement of speech and language services. Upon request, we are happy to provide documentation of your child’s progress.
